Hello there!

I’m Claire Esikalam – passionate about skin care and skin treatments, healthy living, including fitness and wellness. I believe that a balanced lifestyle with manageable stress, leads into healthy glowing skin. And this is what I would like to bring to mySKiN&CO.

My beginnings

I’ve been in the wellness industry for quite some time now. I wouldn’t trade for anything, the satisfaction that I get when I see clients achieve amazing results!

I started my journey in 1996, studying physical education at the University of Malta. After graduating I worked as an educator in the elementary and physical education field. After some time I realized that I am only grazing a little bit from the vastness of the wellness field. So I became a skin and beauty professional. In Europe I studied for the prestigious CIDESCO diploma which incorporates 1200 hours of intense training in beauty and body treatments, with emphasis on skin treatment, skin anlaysis, nutrition, body analysis, the use of electrical equipment for slimming, toning, cellulite reduction, … In addition, I have a vast working experience in the industry including working for a cosmetic clinic in Malta and a prestigious spa in Toronto Canada.

I love the wellness industry, and have taken numerous courses to learn more about the skin, advanced skin analysis, cosmetic chemistry to learn about ingredients behind product labels, and how the body works in relation to nutrition and skin health, and nutrition and fitness/health. I have since also taken a personal trainer specialist course with Can-Fit-Pro and various nutrition classes.

The birth of mySKiN&CO

My passion is helping people achieve results, and educating them on the correct treatment for their skin, healthy living and well-being. So, mySKiN&CO was born out of the need to educate and to offer results to a clientele I built in Malta. I believe a lot in scientific results, and chose products and equipment carefully to help my clients achieve their desired results – safely and effectively. mySKiN&CO opened its doors in Malta in March 2011. 

Some defining moments during mySKiN&CO’s journey in Malta were building a very successful business with a lot of repeat clients and word-of-mouth. I started my then Fat Loss Challenge (educating clients about healthy nutrition and exercise) with 4 people in a tiny room, to eventually having to rent space to accommodate 20 people. These are all good moments, but I feel that the biggest honour is when my clients still stop my mother on the streets in Malta, asking if I will ever return, and how they miss me, my knowledge, and my treatments. 

Relocating to Toronto

In 2014 I relocated to Toronto. I continued working in the wellness field, while studying social work. I have now also worked in the field of social work for over 3 years in various capacities. Of particular interest to me is how life experiences can throw us and our bodies off balance, and how scientific-backed treatments, together with lots of dedication and a never-give-up approach, can support to restore the brain and body to work in sync again. 

The power of impact

mySKiN&CO lay dormant for a bit, while I continued growing in my career and in my learning curve. However, I found out two things. First, clients and colleagues would come to me to ask for my opinion on something, and I keep affirming how much I love sharing my knowledge, and supporting others to grow and stretch (the teacher in me :-)!). Second is that I love ‘problem-solving’ and am constantly researching the best ingredient, the latest treatment, cutting-edge technology, … all backed-up by science; to come up with effective and individualized treatment plans. And the honour is seeing all this come together, and positively impacting lives. 

mySKiN&CO now

Keeping all this in mind, mySKiN&CO has evolved in an online skin clinic – to educate and share with a like-minded community, things related to wellness, such as skin treatment, skin care, age management (hate the word anti-aging), healthy living, fitness, and overall balance.

There is nothing more rewarding than someone’s smile, someone’s thank you, someone’s lighter step, someone’s baby achievements, someone’s aha moment, someone’s  joy, … and for this mySKiN&CO will continue existing.
