Regardless of your age, soap is a no-no. It’s too harsh, as are soapy cleansers. Some people believe their skin should feel tight and tingly after cleansing. But that would indicate that you are actually harming and drying out your skin. Soaps are alkaline, which means they can strip the skin’s essential acid mantle and also impair its waterproofing properties, potentially leaving it dry and flaky.
Instead, you should choose a suitable cleanser that caters for your skin type.
Contact mySKiN&CO today to book a skin-analysis consultation to be able to discuss your concerns further, and to see how you can achieve a healthy youthful skin.

A cleanser which leaves your skin feeling tight is a terrible no-no. It will be too harsh for you and will be stripping your skin of your natural oils – leading to sensitive and dry skin.
A cleanser should leave your skin feeling comfortable and relaxed. There are different types of cleansers – usually depending on personal preference and skin type:- Read the rest of this entry →

Pre-cleansing is an important part of a two-step cleansing process. It is done first to provide deep, specific cleansing and helps to lift off surface debris that can cause break-outs and dullness. This should then be followed with face wash or cleanser for complete cleanliness.
A gentle, oil-based pre-cleanser will help you achieve ultra-clean, healthy skin with a double cleansing regimen that melts off the layers of unwanted sebum (oil), makeup, Read the rest of this entry →

Not so long ago, if a client of mine had asked me what she or he can do with regards to his or her acne scars, my reply would have been ‘nothing’!
A Big No No to Chemical Peels and Laser Resurfacing
Some people used to resort to Chemical Peels or Laser Resurfacing to help with their acne scarring. However, these kind of treatments are too harsh exfoliants. They literally remove layers from your skin, and if one had to go too deep, then there might be significant dangers to bacterial infections, viral infections and post-inflammatory scarring, plus the down-time that is needed to heal before going in the sun. Not to mention that in the long-term these kind of treatments make the skin worse. You will regret it 6 years down the line. Read the rest of this entry →

AT THE CUTTING EDGE – THE PLASTIC SURGERY APPEAL
Does it come from within or is beauty really skin-deep? Mariella Camilleri asks Dr Des Fernandes, the seventh top plastic surgeon in the world
It’s a humid Tuesday morning and I am making my way to the Palace hotel in Sliema where I am to meet Dr Des Fernandes, the seventh best plastic surgeon in the world.* To me the idea of having my skin snipped and stitched is very daunting – however, as I shake hands with Dr Fernandes himself I realize that most patients must feel very relaxed in his presence because he possesses an aura of gentleness and kindness. Today, dressed in a striped shirt he is looking very relaxed and as he begins to talk about his career I find myself becoming totally absorbed in his story. Read the rest of this entry →

Do you neglect your feet?
Feet are more prone to injury and sores than the rest of the body, because of the heavy burden (our body) that they have to carry around. And at times, we forget all about them, especially in winter.
Self-care to relieve common foot ailments

I have a lot of teenage clients coming in with their mothers to ask me about waxing and other effective hair removal methods. The mothers keep insisting with their daughters not to touch their hair with a razor, as this tends to make the hair grow thick, and to always wax, as if you start waxing when you are young, then by the time you are in your 20s the hair is much finer and you’ll have less hair growth.
In addition, now with the laser trend, a lot of regular waxing clients keep asking if they should go for laser next.
In this article, you’ll get all your questions answered. If not, then please post comments to which I will reply. Read the rest of this entry →
